During the history of the town of Limestone, there have been four post offices.
Briefly, the history of these four is as follows:
1. Limestone post office opened on 21 Dece,ber 1858, closed on 3 April 1866, re-opened on 21 March 1870, and is still operating.
2. Limestone River post office operated from 16 August 1849 to 30 April 1853.
3. Loring Air Force Base post office opened on 25 October 1954 and closed on 20 September 1994..
4. Morris post office opened on 4 April 1898 and closed on 14 September 1903.
In 1914, there was only one post office in Limestone: Limestone. (source: Post Route Map of the State of Maine 1914)
